Hey there guys and girls,

Well, you've just had a relatively nice and mundane day, when later that evening the events of War Of The Worlds (2005) begin to unfold.

Everything for you (except people and places) is the same as for you as it was for Tom Cruise's character in the movie, this means that one of the machines crawls out of the ground in the middle of your very city, and later more arrive to cause more devastation.

The question is: What would you do in that situation? How do you think that your chances for survival would fare? What could you have thought of, that Tom Cruise's character seemed to completely ignore?

I will reply with mine when I get a chance to think about it, in the mean-time I look forward to reading yours.

Hmm.... If there was one around, I'd bunker up in some underground warehouse or something, otherwise I'll just use my "If anything goes wrong" plan by going straight north and continuing untill I'm in the forests of Canada. Virtualy nothing there.

I'd run away to begin with, but then backtrack... because they had already been in those areas.

Id make out with the more germs person , hopefully female. Then i would snog on e of the aliens. Or i would just go to the place at the end of the film. That city seems to be imune to aliens....Or failing both of the above Id tape up my damn daughters mouth and throw her off a cliff, then for my son i'd beat him with a hockey stick and just get my ass safe and pray to god

hm....depends on whether they were after smashing the buildings or just deathraying the folks milling about ^^

considering the moron rating in my town, and the fact that people just stand around and gawp at stuff...those martians would be way to busy hitting stationary targets to wory about lil'ole me

guess it would be down to the new arcade, where there is the underground shopping place from befor the first world war. its ben turned into a historical museum place, and since i could sneak out and snag nosh from the nearby stores, so long as the martians dont pound all the buildings into rubble, i'll be set for a few months^^
i *always* have a backpack with a compas in a pocket, my mobile and my pocket knife and tiny torch in my bumbag (what u USA call a fannypack, *uk peeps, no laffing >.< its true) so thats handy.

unlike mr devorce-dad, i have no kids, so only my cat to worry about

and i can stuff her into my backpac, it leather and hardened, so she cant claw her way out ^^
i already own half a housefull of black gear, so sneaking about isnt a problem, and since the damn things belch loudly to eachother to comunicate, i can hear them comming. only worry is, how many of my fellow locals are looting and pilaging while the rest of us are trying to survive, and avoiding the gangs of (i assume this part) rape-intent sex starved boys roaming the ruins...what with all the gawping girls in the dusted category, who is going to keep THEM warm at night? so people like me had better avoid them, assuming the martions dont get them first, slurp-slurp
oh, and do disply swords like the samurie 3000 sharpen up nicely, or do i have to use them to stab/thump people over the head with when they try to rape/eat/kill or seatl from me?

oh, something to think about, people.
there are two more war of the worlds films yet to hit the screens....one is a musical version of the story, the stuff made by Jeff Wayne back in the early 70'. if they are smart, they will just use the original records sound track, paye some cash to the estate of R Burton for using his voice in a film and use CGI to make the whole thing, if you ask me^^
course, i wont be seeing THAT in the cinemas, i can barely take a reminder of the damn thing befor the whole 2 vinal album starts playing in my head, and i have to go grab something dire like a spice-girls song to drive it out

the other one is by someone called Pandora Studios and is set in the actual time and place the book is set, victorian england

so, on a whole....loved the martians and the SFX, dissapointed by the film, but worht a watch if you have never read the book. if you have, well, rent it or wait for Pandoras i think

Keep in mind that nobody knows the aliens just die. As far as we would know, they are here for the long haul.

I would fill up on supplies and head out to the boonies. I mean, they're going to give the urban areas a good beating first, right? So they won't hit rural areas for a while, which will give everyone time to figure out a way to squish them, while I hide in the middle of nowhere.

oh, and while im at it, if im at home, and they arrive, i high-tail it down the road and clean out the army surplus store just 20 mins walk down the road

man, snowdons has everything

sleaping bags, K rations, tents hehehe....who needs to collect for years when you have them down the road, all nice and neat and laied out for the 5 finger discount ^^

Well, realizing that I wasn't the main actor in some movie, and therefore I could not just run past their Beams'o'Doom although people around me were dying like flies in a soup, I would probably do anything that I didn't dare to when everything was "normal".

Like looting an ammu-nation and going all crazy and stuff. After some time of course I would probably lose interest in shooting random people, so I would go back to normal and try to save my ass. And that as some other poster said, would be easiest if I was alone somewhere with maybe 1 or 2 other people (girls especially, gotta repopulate earth after the aliens are dead XD) - and NOT in a huge crowd that wants to get on a boattrip.

actualy i would try 2 get zaped 2 death i mean i dout if they really r eons ahead of us they would NOT have skiped the idea that there might b viruses and crud and getuing cremated alive is ALOTTE better than being made into fertalizer though it would b nice 2 hlp a plant

thats just me a nature rights activist but can u believe it?... im not a ranger go figure, i might make 1 in the future.
